Spread da Waaagh further in the digital world!

THQ's take over at the Warhammer franchise so far is a very successful one. Starting from Dawn of War and its expansion...to Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising. Blood Bowl is a good alternative Ork game too. Warhammer Online was pretty good and so is Mark of Chaos and its expansion Battle March. The Space Marines shooter game and of course Dark Millenium is in the making. The movie Ultramarines will surely raise some eyes and introduce the franchise to the world. We're gathering momentum here!

They are nominated to the Best Strategy Game of the Year and Best Sport Game of the Year respectively. Recent GW price hike and Orks

All of us don't like price hikes of anything don't we? Effective from June 1 2010, all prices of GW products have increased in price and Orks are no exception. I knew it'll happen sometime ago as the weak GBP exchange rate is probably making GW revising their prices. I'll take some samples and let's see how much will it effect our purchase of Orks :

 I didn't really expect the Ork Boyz set to increase that much! Ork boyz are the staple of any Ork army and GW deliberately increase them...probably due to the high demand for it. But really...£3.00 (25%) increase for a regular staple box set is a little bit too much. Ork players usually never had enough of Boyz. Remember that this might effect Ork Boy bitz if you plan to buy them separately as well...

Assault for Black Reach's £5.00 increase is still OK i would say, as it contains lots of necesarry Ork units, Space Marines and rulebook/dices/templates that you may need extras of.

On the bright side, the Lootas/Burnas and the Gretchin kit increases for just a small some of £1.50 and £1.00 each. New Ork players will be encouraged to field more Lootas then...and gretchins as objective holders/speed bumps for the Lootas :P

Forgeworld : Ork Stompa with head lifter droppa klaw and belly gun

Dang, I kinda missed the Ork Stompa in the previous post :P!

Forgeworld is really encouraging us to invest more time with Armageddon and the Imperial Armour books by coming out with lots of huge models...

Here's the third Stompa on the market today :

The Complete Ork Stompa contains the Head, Klaw and Lifta-Droppa arms, Belly gun and a plastic Stompa kit. Model designed by Stuart Williamson.

Not much details, but this one does have the belly gun which the other Forgeworld Stompa and the GW's one doesn't have. But its basically the same one as the previous one Forgeworld one, they just add the belly gun and £30 to the price. The price is at £155.00 (~USD224.30) which is enough to kill your wallet :P. Compared with the Forgeworld Stompa without Belly Gun : £125.00(~USD180.90) and the Games Workshop Stompa : £60.00(~USD86.90) (much cheaper if you get it from Amazon or other online store), is this worth it? It's up to you to judge though.

Of course Forgeworld do sell parts of the Stompas on their website too in case you need just certain parts of it :

• Klaw Arm - £32.00 (~USD46.30)

I'll admit that the Forgeworld one does looks more imitidating and angrier than the GW one. Of course, some of us is just gonna save up the cash and scratchbuild their Stompas with plasticards, an old bucket or anything that you can grab your hands of...afterall, it's an Ork nature.


It's cool see more variety of stompas around the table in Armageddon games...Waaaaaggghhh!!!

Forgeworld has released more Orky goodness in conjunction with the new Imperial Armor 8 book. Take a look at these new gems Forgeworld made for us :-

Comparison of size with a Rhino

The new Lifta Dropper comes with the full battlewagon kit from GW. Here's the description from the Forgeworld website :

Only the Orks would dare to put such an unstable and powerful energy weapon on the back of a heavily armoured flatbed battlewagon. The massive ‘Traktor’ beam is capable of picking up an enemy tank and throwing it around like an enraged child with a toy, -as long as the onboard reactor doesn’t blow up first of course! The model is retailed at £60.00 (~USD86.10), which means £60.00-£35.00 (battlewagon retail price) = £25.00(~USD36.10) for the Lifta Dropper only. They shouldn't include the battlewagon kit together as we can get it cheaper from online stores...but oh well. :/
It looks very good and menacing though...with the right paint job. Of course, I welcome any new Forgeworld Ork addition, cause we didn't get much love compared to those darned IG tanks and Beakie/Chaos Beakie stuff :P. I still wonder when are we gonna get our new wartrakk and warbuggy...

Next up is a rare set which can actually be used in normal 40k games, as most models done by Forgeworld are either used in Imperial Armour, Armageddon or unique models not in the codex. Here are the Ork weapons set :

Those big shootas in the middle can be good snazzguns or deffguns with some modification. Price is at £16.00 (~USD23.10) for the whole thing. A lil' bit pricey though...but it's always worth it if you can find ideas for it. :)

Warhammer 40,000 : Space Marine trailer and screenshots out

Wot?? Another game with Space Marine as their main characters? When is our turn?? We're the main baddies in this game? Hmm...not too bad to say the least...Check out these latest pictures and trailers : 

    Warhammer 40,000 : Space Marine is an action-RPG for consoles (hopefully released for PC as well!) made by THQ and Relic (the same people that brought you Dawn of War series). Date of release is TBA. Any latest news on Orks in games will be updated here in the Orky Fort!

New Orc Boarboyz!

New Orcs and Goblins stuff is always good news for greenskins in the 40k millenia as well, since the both have the same looks! The new Orc boarboyz set looks good to convert as a Warbike and very suitable for a Snakebite/Feral themed Ork army.Check out the sprues on this thing!

Here is the description from the Games Workshop website :

Orc Boar Boyz are rough, tough and very determined. They ride into battle atop War boars - evil-minded creatures that will take every opportunity to maim, bite and kick the enemy of their Orc masters. Boar Boyz are the shock cavalry of an Orc and Goblin army, and they love nothing better that to gore, stamp and inflict damage on the enemy.

This box set contains five multi-part plastic Orc Boar Boyz. This set includes a host of interchangeable components that mean no two units need ever look the same. These include: three boar body types, five different boar heads, jaws and ears, a range of Orc arms, heads, weapons and shields, and all of the components needed to upgrade three of the Boar Boyz to a standard bearer, musician and Boss. Models supplied with 25mm x 50mm bases.


Five multi part Boar Boyz for retail price of $24.75 is a good bargain! (compared to 3 warbikers for $41.25 retail). Yes, there maybe no dakkagun on this set, but you can always get extra shoota bits from your bitbox or online bits shop and strap them on. There is a good 8 pieces of ork head and choppas in this set as well, where you can use it to add variety to your orks. The shields can be used as some orky glyphs as well. With some modification from a Ork Nob set and this one, you can make it look really good.

Good price, good number of extra bits, and boars make this set a winner!

New Forgeworld Ork "Chinork" Warkopta out!

More new Forgeworld Ork goodness! The Chinook looks like a oversized deffkopta with transportation capabilities. Transporting your boys to the front lines A.S.A.P is always a good idea. Here's the description from the Forgeworld site : 

"These intricate and more than slightly crazed flying machines are designed for one thing only; getting a mob of boyz into combat as fast as possible, with the added bonus of being able to shout insults at the footsloggers down below as they fly over their heads. The Warkopta is a full resin model and looks hugely Orkish as you can see Here, with twin chain-driven whirling blades, engines, rattler guns and lots of added detail, it even comes with a set of arms to enable you to model Games Workshop’s plastic Orks clinging on for dear life!

The model seems big enough to fit about 10-15 boyz (maybe more? have to refer to the IA vol.8 book), which make this kinda like a flying mini battlewagon. Priced at £60.00 and the weak pound exchange rate, will you give it a shot? :P
